Conventional wisdom
teaches that: “If you have to keep a secret, it’s because you shouldn’t be
doing it in the first place.” I am certain close to 100 per cent of loudmouths
blogging in support of the government haven’t heard of this project till
yesterday. If secrecy fails, the perpetrator attacks the credibility of the
messenger. BastionOfPeace
I support the government
on the project and I first heard about it when the first concerns were raised
in Murang’a. Just because you waited for Raila to discover it for you doesn’t
mean the others are so nuanced? Murage James
How can something that
has been discussed by Murang’a county government be a secret? Or is it because
Raila has said so? FowlerD
The rest of the country
that is affected by the down flow is not aware. This amounts to conspiracy! I
mean we are suffering floods every year because we are barred from constructing
dams in these rivers because of a 1928 treaty to ensure Nile waters can reach
Egypt but cannot see the fate of fellow Kenyans downstream! Joseph Makau
Pathetic politics. Why
launch a project and four years later claim it’s bad for the nation. Did anyone
hold a gun on you to launch it? I am all for genuine environmental concerns but
acting holy and righteous to gain political mileage is not cool. I won’t be
surprised if Baba wakes up one day and denies that his name is Raila. Sanity
I believe if it is true
that the World Bank considers this project a risk to sustainable development of
the region then more needs to be done to convince the public that there is no
need to be alarmed. I understand that people like Duale will see politics in
anything but let’s not vilify the man. Let’s render him irrelevant using
independently established scientific assessment. It’s never politics all the
time. This nation is a signatory to the Stockholm Declaration and has the honor
to host an international environmental agency. Kyle
Just Google the northern
water collection tunnels. It’s one and the same with Nairobi water. Karibu2009
World Bank has minimum
standards before they can finance any project. Tafakari
Just don’t fool the
public that because Raila launched the project so it is good and the concerns
being raised by the same man can be swept under the carpet. Raila is just a man
and not god and he can be wrong. Just address the issues raised. Samburu
As usual the 36 bloggers
have already filled this space with insults instead of answering a simple
question. Is the project detrimental to the environment and communities or not?
