Forget haters, Technical university of Kenya is the best — Don tells freshers

First year students joining the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) have been asked to embrace studies if they are to succeed.

TUK Council Chairman Prof Godfrey Nguru, congratulated and described the 3,000 freshers as the best of their generation having been selected to join the university.

“Make wise use of the resources, including human ones, available to you and you will leave this university a successful person,” Nguru advised.

He regretted the bad attitude directed towards technical institutions ‘out there’, saying they offer skills that are bias to real life experiences.

“No one will be watching over what you do. You are therefore advised to use your new-found freedom properly. You need to also choose your friends wisely because bad company will ruin your morals,” Prof Nguru further advised.

Industrialist Dr Manu Chandaria urged the students to emulate Facebook founder and billionaire Mark Zuckerberg who was in the country to learn about M-Pesa.

“When you come to the university to study, that kind of creativity is what is expected of you,” Manu challenged.
