It is true that CORD leader Raila Odinga might be forced to cede his political ambitions in favor of a more powerful young individual in the 2017 general elections. He has run for the seat since 1997 and it is high time for him to support someone else like he did in the run up to the 2002 elections where the National Rainbow coalition beat the KANU regime hands down. Raila Odinga has been a fundamental force in the national politics of the country. He has made great strides towards the multiparty development and the passage of the 2010 constitution that brought about the introduction of a devolved system of governance.

It is important to note that as currently constituted, the CORD team will find it very hard to defeat the current regime in free and fair elections. The opposition must go back to the drawing board and find a suitable candidate that is much younger and energetic that Kenyans can support. With that in mind, the current CORD principles need to induce new blood into their inner circle and support the said candidate. The three CORD principles don’t have the right push to unseat the jubilee administration. Moses Wetangula for example, doesn’t even have what it takes to bring together the Luhya nation. During his launch of his presidential ambition at his home turf, the whole event was marred by violence as there was no unity among his people. The other thing is that with Kalonzo Musyoka, he faces rebellion from his own backyard and faces stiff opposition from maendeleo chapchap leader Mr. Alfred Mutua
