With the coming general elections, the political temperatures have reached an all-time high. Political parties are gearing for a looming showdown as aspirants battle it out for the party nominations slots. With the merger of the jubilee affiliate parties to form a single jubilee party, most of the new aspirants that had an eye for the coveted political seat will have it tough trying to get the party nomination.

In Nandi County, veteran politician Henry kosgey has shown interest in the governor's seat. Having been in politics since the late 70s and working in various capacities in and out of government, he is the front runner for the top county executive seat.

His short stint at the international criminal court, gave him the national limelight, though this was a negative tag that hang around his neck, it served to endear him to the masses through pity. He finally managed to shed off this negative publicity when finally his cases at the international court were finally dropped.

Recently, during the thanks giving prayer rally held at the Afraha stadium in Nakuru, Mr. Henry Kosgey gave all indications that he was joining jubilee party and was intent on running for a political seat. On a number of occasions in Nandi County, he has been seen traversing the various parts of the county trying to solidify his political base.

In the run up to the coming elections he has clearly stated that he will be running on a jubilee ticket, making it hard for the incumbent governor DR. Cleophas Lagat who has been facing allegations of mismanagement. What remains to be seen is what the electorates will decide come the elections period.
