Shock as children less than 7 years slaughter neighbors calf due to hunger

We have lived to know that children have great potential and most of the time; this potential is realized as they grow older.

This potential was realized at a rather early stage in 3 minors in Nyarongi village, Suna East Constituency as three children aged 5, 6 and 7 were reported to have slaughtered a 6-months-old calf belonging to their neighbor.

According to a villager, the children, in a shockingly well-coordinated move dragged the calf from the fields where it had been tethered to their home and slaughtered it.

The three minors who were brought to Migori police station minced no words as they explained to shocked police officers how they slaughtered the calf.

The three were saved from the wrath of the owner of the calf, who had mounted a search for his calf that had gone missing, and rushed them to the police station.

Police officers were however quick to dismiss the allegations against the minors because of their age before the children admitted.

"We were hungry and had nothing to eat. Our parents left us at home four days ago and they have not come back," the fear stricken seven year old boy explained.

He explained how his younger brothers held the calf to the ground as he slaughtered it.

The parents who were accused of negligence allegedly downplayed the gravity of the matter telling the good samaritan who rescued the children to hand them over to authorities.

"If that is what my sons did, let them just be handed over to the police," the mother is alleged to have told the good samaritan.

The police who received the minors said they couldn't handle the case until officers from the children’s department were notified.
