Police are looking for a woman accused of defrauding over 500 people.
The woman and her accomplices are said to have tricked their victims into buying a ranch in Lunga Lunga which is owned by a company.
Police have refused to reveal her identity for fear of jeorpardising investigations.
The woman is reported to be the head of a cartel said to have defrauded unsuspecting buyers of Sh1.75 million so far.
Lunga Lunga Deputy County Commissioner Josephat Biwott said the suspect has eluded the police dragnet for long.
"The suspect has conned over 500 people so far," said Mr Biwott.
The and in question belongs to Lunga Lunga Ranching Company.
Biwott said locals have been paying a registration fee of Sh3, 500 in order to have a piece of it.
"The ranch owners have recorded a statement with police, and so have people who have been conned," Mr Biwott added.
People have bought from one acre to 100 acres without being issued with ownership documents.
