Nationalism bad for world economy

Campaigns for the White House seem to be taking a nationalistic dimension.

Republican candidate Donald Trump is pitching his case on a weak immigration, system which has led to influx of illegal immigrants, mostly from developing countries, a message which is resonating well with the electorate in America. What will happen in case Trump wins?

The biggest casualty of 'nationalism crusade is the world economy. Volatility in the key global markets following the uncertainty resulting from Brexit vote shows how damaging clamour for nationalism can cause to the world economy. Is the world economy prepared for similar actions by other nations in Europe and elsewhere?

Economic analysts are predicting more plebiscites as nations emulate the UK so called 'independence' from the chain of EU. Scotland and Northern Ireland having voted to stay in the EU will definitely take a further vote to leave the UK.

Britons may not have contemplated this unfortunate eventuality. Closer home, African nations must strive to improve inter state bilateral relations.The continent is a victim of adopting inward looking policies. We can only be strong on the global stage by acting as one united entity.
