Voters should reject inciting leaders

Recent inflammatory remarks attributed to politicians should awaken our collective patriotism and national consciousness.

The inciting statements have the potential of tearing our nation apart.

Politicians whip up ethnic emotions to galvanise support. Most often, ordinary citizens are vulnerable to cunning politicians keen to exploit negative ethnicity.

I think people who suffer from bankruptcy of ideas resort to tribalism to win votes.

As our leaders are immersed in shameful and primitive politics of negative ethnicity, the developed countries are matching on with politics of ideas. To them politics is about sound philosophy. Voters are given choices to make, based on party manifestos. Why can’t we emulate these democracies?

Kenyans of all walks of life have an obligation to demand policies of all aspiring candidates before voting for them. Behaving like voting robots devoid of an objective sense of judgement has seen bad leaders elected into office.

Will Kenyans abandon the old bad habits and elect leaders on the basis of their brain power and not tribal relations? Only time will tell.
