Kenyan politicians risk losing their political clout to what I call Donald Trump’s hate speech mentality! Republican Presidential front-runner Donald Trump’s vehement questioning regarding black people has provoked charges of hate speech and to the most, racism with a number of public figures in the World and mostly from Africa accusing the real estate magnate of employing crude and unfair stereotypes to blackmail and tarnish black people. Trump has been called out several times for racial insensitivity and hate speech.
Donald Trump stands accused of lying to black prospective renters about the availability of apartments, and giving them different lease terms and conditions than white tenants. He has also been accredited by his infamous quote that laziness is a trait in blacks. His latest tweet…“Sadly, because president Obama has done such a poor job as president, you won't see another black president for generations,” did anger everyone!
Indeed, Donald Trump’s hate speech towards blacks will cost his presidency! Trump has made little progress building a campaign operation to match Clinton's sophisticated get-out-the-vote machine. For us in Kenya, let’s stop hate speech and learn to develop healthy and conscious political statements that are anchored on national cohesion and integration.
