Pastors receive thorough beating for blocking non clergy

Pastors from a certain church are writhing in excruciating pain after they received the beating of their life at a funeral in Migori County’s Suna East Constituency. The men of cloth are said to have been presiding over a burial ceremony where they planned to disrupt 'normal burial procedure' before the ill-famed incident occurred to them.

An eye witness who sought anonymity for fear of being cursed by the church elders,  noted that mourners were angered because local leaders were not given the opportunity to address them at the burial. "We were shocked when the emceeing pastor told us that we were not going to be addressed by our honorable members because it was not their day," the witness said.

The pastors were also blamed for holding a very lengthy service, "not befitting a funeral", seated under the only tent while mourners braved the scorching sun. The witness said that things took a turn for the worst when the microphone was hidden from the area Assistant Chief who is said to have overseen the processing of the burial permit.

This forced the mourners who were simmering with rage to descend on the pastors with blows and kicks with some of them opting for canes from eucalyptus from the fence of the bereaved family's compound. The clergymen who adorned white robes and small white green and red stripped hats were sent scampering for safety.

Mourners in the church's regalia were not spared. "Anybody who was in white that day was not spared. They were beaten with anything on sight and we are not sorry for them. We have never seen this caliber of pastors in this area," the witness added.

According to locals who admittedly have a penchant for handouts from politicians, the planned barring of leaders from speaking was going to deprive them of the day's "jackpot." "Those pastors were being blinded by offering given by the mammoth congregation that day. We too had to be 'untied' but that could only happen after we identified Waheshimiwa while they addressed us," an aggrieved local explained.

The pastors are however said to have come from a neighbouring village and were not privy to the area's running of funeral programs. The ceremony later continued to a successful finish led by the bereaved family and few mourners who remained behind.
