Real reason candidates cheat in exams

It is unfortunate that the education sector today has to deal with the headache of exam leakage.

The latest measures introduced by the Education Cabinet Secretary seek to help curb the vice.

However, as the policies are being implemented so should there be policies that focus on a knowledge based system that could reduce pressure on exam oriented system of education which has piled pressure on the pupils and students.

Quality education should be based on knowledge that can empower an individual and propel them to the next level, which has not been the case.

There have been students ranked highly in the national exams but when they join universities, their performances drop.

The system in which more focus is put on passing exams is a psychological torture that no candidate would not want trade along that path hence a contributing factor to cheating. Equal focus should be on knowledge and not only on papers.

Key stakeholders should also be consulted in a bid to get rid of the vice, which is now becoming a crisis that needs collective effort.
