Consensus needed on IEBC before lives are lost

The current onslaught on election commissioners by the public, politicians, lawyers and religious groups is not something worth ignoring.

However, the supreme law clearly states the procedure for removing constitutional office holders. The process involves tabling a petition before Parliament to be discussed by MPs.

The Opposition seems to have opted not to take that road citing tyranny of numbers in Jubilee coalition.

On the flip side, many Jubilee MPs have openly declared that the current commissioners should leave office.

Isn’t it about time that we took this motion to Parliament and appointed new commissioners before lives are lost and more property destroyed?

Why are we buying time? Then you realise that politicians are always looking for opportunities to gain political mileage.

Politicians should stop their planned protests since the church has already offered to spearhead talks to bring out consensus between all concerned parties.
