Nairobi, the city of God is in ruins! Governor Kidero has made Nairobi metropolis an abomination! Nairobians have to contend with grotesque corruption, chocking inefficiency and wanton waste in East Africa's biggest metropolis.
The city of God and the ‘future of Africa’ is mutilated! Though it’s undeniable truth that Nairobi is the city of God and this is confirmed by the visit of President Obama, Pope’s entry and World Trade Organization (WTO), these being just but a few highlights of this strategic city – Nairobi.
Nairobi city is under fictitious ‘doomers’ who are littered everywhere looking for a land and/or resource to grab! It’s very unfortunate that such an iconic city that is admired by World Leaders is on the ruins!
Like old Nehemiah of the Bible, the walls of Jerusalem have been ruined and its gates shattered by evil men! Poor governance will suffocate Nairobi into the lake of fire! With all this leverage, Governor Kidero has promised to ruin this great city.
We call upon Mr. President to take up the challenge and save Nairobians from suffocating. This is with tremendous respect to Governor Kidero who has allegedly proved incompetent and unprofessional.
The name “Nairobi” comes from the Maasai phrase Enkare Nairobi, which translates to "cool water". The phrase is also the Maasai name of the Nairobi River, which in turn lent its name to the city.
However, it is popularly known as the "Green City in the Sun". Nairobi is one of the most prominent cities in Africa, both politically and financially. It is home to thousands of Kenyan businesses and over 1000 major international companies and organizations, including the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON).
Nairobi is an established hub for business and culture. With all this leverage, Governor Kidero has promised to ruin this great city.
Indeed, when Governor Evans Kidero came into power, majority of Nairobians thought things will improve and that Dr. Kidero will deliver us to the Promised Land. The land that flowed with milk and honey.
But this was never to be! It was hoped that he would transform Nairobi and lift it out of the deep rut it had sunk into. Nairobians looked at him as an accomplished professor of development and not as a career politician.
Indeed, we chose Dr. Kidero for his impressive private sector successes and advancement but he has turned to be the opposite. For once, Nairobians were sure things will be done differently from the previous political regime that was always fighting and eating our resources but to our rude shock, we are even worse than the previous corrupt regimes.
We thought he will differentiate between politics and development and to the least, combine both and give Nairobians a good share of economic growth and advancement but this again has and will not happen!.
It is so depressing that after three years of power, with nothing seeming to have changed in the city with no single development, Dr Kidero has come out guns blazing and sensationally blaming unnamed cartels for non-delivery of service in the city.
These are lame duck’s excuses! The four million city residents have to contend with poor and inadequate housing, poor sanitation, lack of clean drinking water, poor road network and crime. Devolution came with many promises, but Nairobians are yet to fully enjoy, or even appreciate them. Too bad indeed!
