Ciru Muriuki finally addresses identity issues with Ciku

Angela Wanjiru Muriuki AKA Ciru, had a rather important message that she thinks her fans and haters should know once and for all: She's not Ciku Muiruri and they should've known that by now.

The mid-morning presenter has been facing a perennial problem of fans and haters confusing her with her former workmate and friend Charity Wanjiku Muiruri, whom not only do their names look and sound similar but also have intertwining careers.

“Now now. Just because Ciku Muiruri and I have eerily similar names doesn't mean we share the same brain,” Muriuki said on Facebook, where she has more than once urged fans to stop confusing Ciku with her.

“She has her opinions, I have mine. We disagree aaaalllll the time, and it's cool, because again...we don't share cerebral tissue."

So, to avoid any further confusion here, let's tag their English names along, which the two hate doing and possibly enlighten fans on how to pick one from the other.

Charity Ciku, who also is used to these wrong identity mishaps like her friend, and has been getting a lot of hate from fans ever since her “busted” days at Classic 105 FM, reacted to the post by supporting her former workmate and properly directing the haters.

“Yezzzzzz. True dat my sister. Kindly direct all hate mail to me (posting her Facebook account address).” She commented on the post.

There's a reason why fans keep confusing these two journalists though.

Both have dreadlocks, have been labeled "Man hater" numerous times, used to work at Nation Media Group, and have at least hosted a show on radio and TV. It's also good to note that both have been fired at one point so far in their careers. They're also very opinionated and from this, have attracted a lot of heat from haters and critics.

“You should see my Twitter mentions,” Angela Ciru once told Daily Nation in an interview. “I've had situations where I'm scrolling through my mentions and if I keep going on, I will cry. But I can say I have got a thicker skin because I'm not as sensitive as I used to be.”

So, what's the difference between these two that keeps slipping past people? A lot.

Charity Ciku, unlike Angela Ciru, has been controversial since day one. You can easily go with "the controversial one" when referring to her if you're among the confused fans. She was ushered into limelight by her Busted show which involved tracking down cheating spouses live on air, a thing that many Nairobi residents greatly rebuked and had them calling her "Marriage breaker."

She’s a columnist at Daily Nation and was a host at Kenya Broadcasting Corporation some time back. Controversial political analyst Tony Gachoka is her elder brother and she's been blessed with one daughter called Erica.

Angela Ciru, on the other hand uses mostly her social media accounts to pass her message and in turn is where most of her critics get the opportunity to tackle her for some of her statements and views.

She debuted her radio career at Homeboyz Radio after attending their radio school, is currently at Citizen's Hot 96 FM and also at Nation TV as a co-host with Larry Madowo on the Trend.

Charity Ciku, many believed, was dating one of the Artur Brothers, an assumption that made her sue Jicho Pevu’s Ali Mohamed for linking her with the flashy brothers and creating that perception. She also at one point shared on social media that she's a second wife but never said to who.

Angela Ciru on the contrary chooses to stay away from such conversations.

Not once has she promised that the world will never know her boyfriend until the wedding day. She stays mum on her relationship and most of her private life.

And in case you happen to meet either of them in person here's a hint; Ciru is always in black and likes taking long walks especially when stressed out while Ciku is a bit guarded and might easily bring out the drama if you cross the line.

By now you should be knowing the difference between the two.
