A 30-year-old man Tuesday collapsed on a ferry in Mombasa and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Coast General Hospital.
Zacharia Mbuvi was aboard MV Kwale on the Likoni channel travelling from the island.
Likoni OCPD Willy Simba said Mr Mbuvi collapsed on the ferry after developing breathing complications.
"I received a report from Kenya Ferry Service (KFS) officials that the man had collapsed while on board," he said.
KFS management said the man looked weak and sickly. KFS Customer Relations Officer Francis Mugomati said Mbuvi upon boarding the ferry, occupied a seat but looked worn out and weak.
He said the deceased had developed breathing difficulties prompting the KFS workers on board to perform first aid on him.
"The man became unconscious while on board," he said, adding that when the ferry docked, he was taken to the Coast General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
