Uhuru should cut tour, hospitality budget

The President is spending a lot of government's money on State visits. Most of these trips are for public relations and have little benefit to the public. The trips should be few and the money saved put to better use. The Sh200 million the State needs for President Uhuru Kenyatta tours can be used to resettle internally displaced persons or buy drugs to curb shortage as is being experienced in Nyeri.

For Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto to defy the austerity orders issued by the National Treasury to cut down on the budget for hospitality is pathetic.

If they won't lead by example, the MPs will increase on their spending instead of cutting it down. Sh725 million is a lot to be spent on hospitality. Even developed countries have no such huge budgets for hospitality.
