The much anticipated event in this semester’s Kenyatta University Pharmacy calendar took place on March 24, 2016.

For a day that had to outdo the much hype that was befitted its name, it was pleasurable to report that it was a huge success for the pharmacy fraternity.

The Pharm Journal was launched in the afternoon, by Professor Okumu, the DVC Academics Kenyatta University. Also in attendance were Dr. Kahiga, Mr. Samuel Muthami (The Head Librarian), Harbert Odhiambo (Congressman School of Medicine) and the chairperson KEPHSA Pharmacy Students of Kenya.

Susan Mageto, the former KUPHSA chairperson introduced the executive and the editorial teams that worked tirelessly to ensure that the first issue of the journal was a success.

She also appreciated her team particularly the outgoing editorial team led by Dennis Okova.

The master of ceremony, Faith Nyawira proceeded to welcome the current chairman Hakem Kiboi. He introduced the new editorial team and welcomed Sammerion Nyawara, the digital editor to give an overview of the pharmacy website.

Thereafter, KEPHSA secretary made some remarks on how the Pharm Journal has made history as the first publication in Kenya from a pharmacy school.

Dr. Kahiga then detailed the journey in producing the journal.

He cited the lack of finances which prompted him to apply for a grant that enabled the journal to be produced. The students then applauded his dedication.

He welcomed the guest of honour Professor Okumu who commended the achievement and challenged us to look to the future and the production of other issues.
