Suicide cases among youths have skyrocketed posing a big question on how all these horrific incidences are going to be eradicated. Hardly does a day elapse without hearing of a youth stabbing another here and one shooting the other there. This is worrying and becomes a question of who will die next, where and how?

Numerous youths are entangled in love that they cannot think right whenever they face challenges in their relationships. What normally comes into their mind as a solution is the most ancient idea one can ever have in mind and it leaves both parties as losers.

Youths have combined love and drunkenness and with this combination, it is difficult to curb the rampant killings. Most of them are university students who possibly think they are the only ones in love. They are more prone to these deaths because they do not have enough strength to resist disappointments from their lovers. They have an illusion that everybody is perfect including their lovers.

Expecting no kind of secrecy from their lovers, these youths go on to invest greatly in their relationships and once they get to know that they are in a joint account with another person, results are usually not far away from death. Sometimes it dawns on one that what he or she has achieved in a relationship all along is an STD probably HIV/Aids. And without second thought, he or she commits suicide because they cannot stand the pain.

Youths should wake up immediately from their slumber and think critically about their lives. They should be very careful when making decisions. They should consider their future and try to figure out what it could be holding for them.

They should avoid drunkenness because it is one of the causes of these deaths. When most youths get introduced to drugs and alcohol, they take them like there is no tomorrow. This affects their actions as well as judgements. Let's not ruin our lives. We have dreams to fulfill for our country and for our future generations.

It is a question of self-drive and self-definition to the youths. There is little that the law can do to shape them. Parents also can do very little especially when they realize their son or daughter is a grown up. Therefore, it is up to them to govern themselves on a personal level since the law cannot help them think and come up with the right options to assist them.
