According to the constitution of Kenya, all public institutions are supposed to represent the face of Kenya. The same applies to the cabinet.
No docket should be dominated by members of one ethnic community.
As the president makes more appointments, he is required to have a mosaic, catering to many ethnic communities as possible.
Public institutions belong to all Kenyans not a select few tribes.
During the grand coalition government, one was able to establish the ethnicity of the cabinet secretary by the ethnicity of the prime minister or president.
That was not good for national integration.
Many politicians have accused Kenya of not being ethnically diverse in parastatal appointments. Cabinet Secretaries’ appointment is notorious for perpetuating this vice.
It is high time the president and his deputy refrained from practising this divisive habit.
Let jobs in public institutions be open to all citizens.
