The government has established a medical camp in Gatithini, Tharaka North sub-county following a cholera outbreak.
The outbreak has hit the northern and north eastern parts of the county for the last two weeks.
Nurses were also sent to the camp to enhance treatment of patients from the neighbouring locations such as Rukani, Ntoroni and Kathimani.
For the last two weeks, hotels and food selling points in Tharaka constituency have been closed following an order by the county health department due to the outbreak.
Since the outbreak, two people have died and about 114 others are receiving treatment in various hospitals in the county, according to health reports.
Tharaka North Health Officer Njagi Murata said the situation is under control since no other person has been reported dead.
"All the health facilities in the county have been supplied with medicine and enough health workers to enhance the fight against the dangerous disease," Murata said, noting that the number of patients being brought to the Gatithini camp was reducing.
He advised residents to maintain high hygiene to prevent infections.
