Leaders mourn fallen soldiers, call for unity

Non-Governmental Organisations Council Chairman Wilson Kipkazi has called for investigations to establish how the attack on the KDF base in Somalia happened and action taken on those who failed in their responsibility.

Mr Kipkazi said it was shocking that the soldiers were ambushed by Al Shabaab militants. Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua said Kenyans should not allow the heinous act to break their spirit.

"Kenya has gone through some very tough times, but each time the true spirit of the country is put to test and Kenya emerges victorious," the former AP boss said.

He said radicalisation in Somalia or at home, both on the battlefield and ideologically must be defeated.

National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) Chairman Lee Kinyanjui said Kenyans must never allow such acts to cast doubts on the capability of KDF or Amisom as this would be in the interests of the enemy.
