Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders have dismissed an Ipsos survey that majority of Kenyans want Raila Odinga to retire from active politics.

Busia Senator Amos Wako dismissed the research company's findings, saying their research questions were dubious.

"Ipsos' style of survey questions is poor. The questions cannot foster prosperity in this country. They are addressing non-issues. Every right-thinking Kenyan knows that the Constitution has no age limit on presidential candidates," Mr Wako, a former Attorney General said.

He said Raila has a constitutional right to vie for any political seat.

"If the former prime minister feels he has the energy and something to offer to Kenya's development, let him vie.

People have no right to tell others not to run. If you don't want a person, simply don't vote for him or her during elections," Mr Wako said.

Gem MP termed the findings as mere propaganda by Jubilee leaders. "Raila is the best we have, the best for most Kenyans and we will support his candidature," Mr Midiwo said.

Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama observed that Raila is the most popular candidate in Kenya now.

"Whoever is saying the opposite doesn't understand politics. Kenyans love Raila and this is exhibited whenever he calls for rallies. Raila's rallies across Kenya are attended by multitudes," Mr Muthama said.

The Ipsos poll released on Wednesday indicated that 42 per cent of Kenyans want Raila to quit elective politics while only 25 per cent think he should continue.
