Kenya: Rescue operations for 14 missing persons suspended in Migori flooding incident

A state of desperation has engulfed Sori area, Migori County as the missing 14 bodies of floods victims who were swept away ina minibus on Saturday remain missing still missing. County Deputy Commissioner James Mabeya says the operation has been suspended for three days for the bodies to come afloat.

Five bodies were recovered on Saturday after the minibus they were travelling in was swept away when River Kuja in Migori County burst its banks following heavy rains.

Deputy County commissioner James Mabeya said the PSV was overpowered by the floods that affected Sori Karungu area of Migori County.

From the accident, ten people who were rescued following the accident have been admitted to St. Camilus Sori Hospital. The 14 people are still unaccounted for from the 33-seater minibus.
