United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Cyrus Jirongo, Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale, MPs Charles Gimose (Hamisi), Michael Onyura (Butula) and ODM national youth leader Rashid Mohammed have vowed to marshal the Luhya Community and support one of their own in the 2017 General Election.
Speaking in Mumias Yesterday, they said successive governments have marginalised the community in development projects because they perceived the community as unable to support one of their own.
“Sugarcane farming has been the backbone of our economy since independence but while sugar from other countries is cheap, ours has always been expensive. Farmers must get their dues fairly by being supported by the Government," Jirongo said.
