Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka has said his administration needs Sh380 million for disaster preparedness and reducing effects of impending El Nino rains.
"As a county, we are able to raise at least Sh75 million but we are looking up to the national government to back up the deficit and help our mitigation efforts in the next three months," Lusaka said.
Speaking during the inauguration of the Bungoma County Disaster Management Board, Lusaka said his administration will allocate Sh101 million to Agriculture to ensure the county's economic backbone is not affected.
"Health will need Sh91.5 million for preventing malaria outbreak by buying mosquito nets and drugs. We will also need drugs for water-borne diseases in all health centres," he said.
