NYAMIRA: Six officials of the, county government, who were suspended after being implicated in corruption in their departments and incompetence claims, may be reinstated after the assembly failed to substantiate their cases.
The anticipated return of the officials is as a result of a failed impeachment process that was instituted by MCAs.
Governor John Nyagarama told reporters that the assembly had rejected the select committee report, which could have been used to sack the six.
The officials had been adversely mentioned in the Implementation Committee Report that they had embezzled funds allocated to their respective offices.
The officers in question are executive members John Omanwa (Finance and Planning), Peter Ogwara (Education and ICT), Andrew Ombati (Health) and Kefa Osoro (Public Works and Transport). Others are Chief Officers Fridah Nyaboga (Gender and Sports) and Ernest Morara (Roads and Public Works).
Nyagarama said as per the law, any motion rejected in the assembly should be re-introduced after six months and therefore he had no other choice but to reinstate the said officials.
