SIAYA, KENYA: A national body representing cane farmers has called on the country's directorate of the Sugar Sub-sector to resolve a dispute between Siaya-based Dominion Farm and Locals.
The Kenya National Federation of Sugarcane farmers Secretary General Ezra Okoth said the directorate should convene a meeting with the locals and politicians from Siaya County to settle the dispute on proposed sugar mill at the Dominion farm.
Mr Okoth said the Directorate of sugarcane farmers should include locals and politicians in ending the row pitting the farm and locals.
The dispute arose after locals turned up against the management of the farm after levelling accusations of non-inclusiveness of locals in the agricultural base's businesses.
Okoth said the people of Siaya should be included in pacing up progress of the proposed mill and address their concerns to allow the establishment of the opposed mill.
