The National Alliance (TNA) has exonerated the nominated Senator Joy Gwendo of accusations leveled against her that called for her suspension from the party.
The party's Secretary General Onyango Oloo told The Standard that the cases advanced against the senator pointed at witch hunt and could not stand test of time.
"We are summoning an urgent National Oversight Board with a view to exonerating her of the accusations, owing to the weak evidence that was presented," said Mr Oloo.
Ms Gwendo was last week de-whipped from all Senate committees by the party's National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) over gross misconduct, a move that has now hit a wall, when it emerged that it was a rushed decision out of witch hunt.
"The evidence presented pointed at witch-hunt and as a ruling party we cannot allow the party to base its ruling on such evidence to expel members. The accusations cannot stand the threshold put by the party's National Oversight Board and it is in that strength that Senator Gwendo will not be suspended nor expelled," said Oloo.
This comes after the said suspension elicited outrage across the political divide, with many saying Ms Gwendo was unfairly targeted.
The senator told The Standard that she was happy sanity had prevailed and that she holds no grudge.
"I welcome the decision by the party to exonerate me of all the charges. I have maintained that I am innocent and these charges were malicious and designed to smear my name," Gwendo said.
She added: "I am happy that this can now be put behind us, so that we build a stronger party and country."
She said the witch hunt was being done by a few misguided party officials in Kisumu, whom she said she has forgiven for the betterment of the party.
