NAIROBI: A lawyer has asked the Government to intervene and ensure shareholders of the troubled Kihiu Mwiri land buying company in Murang'a don't lose their property.
Wanyiri Kihoro, who is also a human rights activist, alleged that directors of the company had short-changed ordinary shareholders by selling shares of the company unprocedurally.
He said: "The problem with Kihiu Mwiri lies with the directors. There is a scramble for the position over money raised through the sale of the shares and that is why there is a chain of killings." Last week one of the directors, Mr Paul Kaharu was shot dead as he was getting into his car at Majengo Estate in Thika town, where he had allegedly stopped to greet a friend on the way to his Starehe estate home just nearby. The shooting brings to six the number of the firm's board members who have died mysteriously.
Other slain directors are Wilfred Gichana, Newton Muhoro, Ngugi Kamau, and Benson Ngumi. Henry Ngugi, Job Mwangi and James Kimaru are still missing. Kuria, who was elected director in 2011, was fighting to assume chairmanship.
