A group of youths has come out to defend Garissa County Governor Nathif Jama over the leasing of ambulances.

Governor Jama is being accused of irregularly leasing the ambulances.

The youths, addressing the Press yesterday, said the leasing of the vehicles was in line with the demands of the residents, adding that the sourcing of the ambulances was done over board.

They said the ambulances have helped scale down the mortality rate in the county by facilitating quick response and transportation of sick people and delivering mothers, who previously depended on donkeys and camel to access health facilities.

Led by Abdullahi Khalif, they said since the inception of devolution, the people of Garissa have achieved a lot especially after the introduction of the ambulance services.

They said the case against Jama is politically motivated by powerful individuals in the Government. "The ambulance saga is all about politics at play," he said.
