Seven Kariobangi residents have sued the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) over demolitions on Outer Ring Road. The seven claim Kura has no right to demolish structures it has earmarked at Kariobangi Light Industries as the authority had done so without following the laid down procedures.

"Marking the road for demolition and attempting to destroy the property in an act of acquisition to construct the Outer Ring Road without adhering to the laid down procedures is a violation of our right to enjoy unrestricted access to the property," said Elias Mwangi Ndirangu, one of the petitioners.

Outer Ring Road is set for expansion after President Uhuru Kenyatta commissioned the project early this year.
