The Meru county government has been enjoined in a case seeking to disband a taskforce formed by the Ministry of Agriculture to market Miraa.
Meru and the Nyambeni Miraa Association were enjoined after the court found that it would be in the interests of justice if they joined the proceedings as interested parties.
High Court Judge George Odunga said the court was satisfied with the arguments brought forward and was therefore convinced they will be affected by the results and outcome of the case.
Justice Odunga issued orders stopping the ministry from disbursing funds to the team pending the conclusion of the case. The Kenya Miraa Farmers and Traders Association is challenging the formation of the ten-man team.
