NSE-20 Share Index falls below 5,000 mark

The main NSE-20 Share Index on the Nairobi Securities Exchange was down 48.39 points or 0.97 per cent yesterday to close at 4,932.32 points.

Among stocks whose prices fell was tea and coffee producer Sasini, which swung to a first-half loss on Friday.

Sasini fell 4.3 per cent to Sh15.45. “It’s something that is carrying forward to this week,” Agnes Achieng, research analyst at Sterling Investment Bank, said, referring to the reaction to Sasini’s half-year loss.

However, on the secondary markets, government bonds valued at Sh446.2 million were traded, lower than Sh526.5 million traded on Friday.
