Hundreds of boda boda operators in Moyale town took to the streets yesterday protesting against alleged harassment and extortion by traffic officers.
They also claimed when they are charged in court a fine of between Sh20,000 and Sh30,000 is imposed on them, and failure to pay up exposes them to a jail term of more than six months.
The demonstrations came a day after two boda boda operators were fined Sh20,000 by the Moyale Law Court.
According to boda boda Chairman Ali Guyo, the peaceful demonstration was to raise their grievances and ensure boda bodas and police work together.
Moyale deputy OCPD Peter Njoroge said the operators' complaints would be addressed.
