Brokers to blame for URP woes, says Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter

Political brokers who have surrounded the URP party leader are responsible for persistent wrangling and disunity in the party, Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter has said.

Mr Keter absolved the party leader, Deputy President William Ruto, from any blame in the current wrangles but criticised the unnamed "brokers" for causing friction among Kalenjin leaders.

He claimed the brokers are inciting leaders against one another and accused them of causing unnecessary friction in Rift Valley.

"The Deputy President is not to blame for the current power friction within URP. Power brokers close to him are cashing in on the political divisions, further misleading the DP and the party supporters," he said.

Keter, who spoke at Ndubusat Primary School in his Nandi Hills constituency on Saturday, called for unity in URP, saying discontent could disintegrate their political strength.

He told URP supporters to remain steadfast in the party and not "rush" into the Jubilee Alliance Party. Keter spoke after presiding over a fundraiser for a bursary kitty for students in the region where about Sh3 million was raised.
