Countries that have suffered civil war will concur with me that it did not just start overnight and people started slashing each other, no, people don’t just become vicious suddenly, something has to simmer up first. Rwanda today speaks in one voice saying, “never again”. The 1994 genocide left many physically, mentally, and emotionally wounded. Various events preceded the mass killing even before the country attained independence, the Belgium present by then, favored the Tutsi creating a legacy of tension that will explode into violence years later. Prior to the real action of mass homicide, planning, budgeting, recruitment and incitement to the desperate youth was done significantly. Someone was directly or indirectly involved in financing and inciting. Someone campaigned for action against another community, eventually resulting into an ethically motivated violence that became full blow humanitarian crisis. The actual perpetrators were not just mere villagers, nor ordinary mwananchi, but once thought to be of high social status and accorded respect they do not appreciate , and they dare not be in the field, for the real action because they fully understand the consequences of the stupid acts, we that have regarded ourselves as subhuman ,swiftly butcher one another . WHY? Leaders can misguide you for their personal gain as long as you blindly follow, they know how to play, they radicalize our minds and convince us that apart from my community no other deserves it better than I do. They prepare our minds for violence without caring for the future generation and by this, they have proven to be evil-minded politicians who only care for the next election and not statesman who care for the next generation. Rwandan genocide started in the mind back then in colonial period, strongly natured in the heart and highly irritating inside the nerves, one had just to pick the machete and hack off his long-term neighbor. Kenya is likely to be heading in that direction, the pace maybe slows, invisible to the ignorant but time happens to all, we do not have to wait for physical action, mentally we are fighting along tribal lines. The presumption that we are a peaceful nation and relax freely at our comfort zone must stop and in one voice preach peace. We must restore back the peace, respect and the trust, that we have enjoyed for many years and identify each other as Kenyans and not tribe A, B or C instead they should be used as a symbol of the unique heritage that defines us as a nation that appreciate diversities. It is time that we should stand and shun tribalism, inciting statements from our leaders who have betrayed us through their actions and speeches of intent in political rallies that are full of meanness. We ought not be complacent with the current situation, but come forward to do something that will circumvent the tragedy that is creeping in, we cannot leave this task to our politicians, for they have verified clearly of having no intention to mitigate any serious threat to the unity of this nation. Instead, expose greed and thirsty for innocent blood of Kenyans. We stand as Kenyans and not as ethnic A, B or C against their endeavor that tries to induce us to raise arms against fellow Kenyans, after which they will wait to sign peace deals at safari park while having a cup of tea, as our rivers, streams and lakes will be flooded with blood. We say no, we can’t allow it again that Kofi Annan, or ban ki moon nor john Kerry to mediate peace talk between the fighting bulls, when we have the opportunity to seal it now by paving no way to their corrupt words, saying no to their selfish ambitions, no to their will to separate us along tribal line, no to their mastermind skillful ploy to shade innocent blood, we shaded blood for our independence, we shaded for them in 2007, we can’t just afford to repeat this again for anyone else only wants to benefit from our miseries. Our brothers and sister who lost their life in the 2007 events won’t forgive us if we decide to take that path again, some lost the chance of raising their children, of being with their loved once ,May the Lord rest their souls in eternal peace ’Kenyans never again’ If they can’t campaign for peace love and unity of this nation, let them be warn that they may bend the law and escape justice simply because the administrator is human, very weak and easily manipulated creature, they may evade justice by the fact that power is in their hands, but the one and only supreme judge, who is the source of resources influence and power, control over all, is just, never quick to act nor slow to deliver, is never late neither does He fails He will judge you, His name is God. To the one big tribe, mkenya, let us embrace each other with unending love, and by this, peace and unity shall be our harvest, we are one and shall always be one. The Kenyan dream.
