Perverts who see a toilet in flyovers

An upsurge in road accidents has seen the government erect flyovers and footpaths to ensure pedestrians cross the roads safely.

But it is not strange to spot some people shying away from flyovers; they choose to compete with vehicles and dangerously cross the killer roads running and zig-zagging along the lanes.

While the reasons behind such defiant behaviours maybe varied, one annoying thing I have witnessed is flyovers turned toilets by night.

I frequently use a flyover situated along Mbagathi Way just next to Riara University. Many other people use the facility too because crossing that road has become a death trap.

Several lives have been lost, in fact a week never passes without someone getting knocked down as they cross the busy highway that connects Nairobians to most city hospitals. 

But there are  few perverts who think the flyover is underutilised and have resorted to dropping their shit there. It is very annoying, the sight is nauseating and the stench is one that assaults one’s nostrils.

What irks me most is the failure to understand the genesis of such actions. It is even harder to figure out what time they strike! Measures should be put in place to discourage or even punish the offenders. Probably one factor that breeds the act could be poor lighting in the flyover. Maybe if the place is adequately lit, the perpetrators may not gather enough courage to ‘drop their shit there’.

So while I and many other users peservere the gross sight of human faeces scattered everywhere, I hope someone read this post and take necessary action.

Also security should be enhanced in flyovers at night because cases of mugging are rife. This will help reduce road carnages because many pedestrians will feel safe to use them.
