NAIROBI: Three CORD MPs begin lobbying for chairmanship of PAC just as Committee on Selection settles on new names for members. ODM chairman John Mbadi who has been sitting in the committee says he is fit to lead the watchdog committee. Mbadi who stepped down for Ababu Namwamba at the beginning of the term of the House says he will not step down this time round.
Eseli Simiyu (Tongaren) and Abdikadir Aden (Balambala) are also in the race.
The seat will have to go to an ODM MP from Western Kenya for political reasons now that Namwamba comes from that region.
But so far, there is no direct fit to that criteria. Eseli wants the vote because he is he is from Western Kenya but he belongs to Ford Kenya, an affiliate party within CORD.
Abdikadir belongs to ODM but he is from Garissa County in North Eastern Kenya. Mbadi is from Suba, Homa Bay County.
The MPs are walking the corridors lobbying their Jubilee colleagues to back their candidature.
The new 27 PAC members will be approved on Wednesday and thereafter they will sit and elect a chairperson.
