Wetangula, Wamalwa clash over composition of 'list of shame'

Trans Nzoia: Senate Minority Leader Moses Wetang'ula clashed with New Ford-Kenya Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa over the composition of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) 'list of shame'.

Addressing mourners during the burial of former Senior Chief Matayo Khisa at Kimwanga village, Wetang'ula chided President Uhuru Kenyatta for leaving out 'the chief graft architects' of graft in the Jubilee administration.

"The President should have started with his deputy due to issues touching on land grabbing. The Head of State admitted that corruption starts in his own office, so we expect more action to follow," said Mr Wetang'ula.

  SUPPORT UHURU

But Mr Wamalwa warned that leaders should support the Head of State in his mission to weed out corruption rather than dictate to him on who should be sent home.

"It is not our duty as leaders to dictate to the President over who should be asked to step aside, or why one side of the political divide has a particular number of the culprits. His decision was informed by an understanding that corruption is both a social and moral issue," said Wamalwa.

Former Webuye MP Musikari Kombo said  he was happy President Uhuru took cue and named people involved in graft.

"I fully support Uhuru's crusade on corruption, but I want to warn him that corruption fights back, so he must be prepared for any eventualities. I urge Kenyans to support him since the vice has deeply eaten into the fabric of our society," said Kombo.
