A senior police officer was at pains to explain why he owns either a plot of land or property in every station he has served.
Western regional Traffic Commandant Evans Getembe, also had a difficult time explaining why he has never recommended any form of punishment for a junior officer in his entire career, despite the service being clouded with corruption cases.
Appearing before the National Police Service Commission yesterday, Gatembe also faced allegations of picking officers to help him in collecting bribes.
The commission called for a private session, saying they have damning evidence to prove the allegation.
The Kavuludi-led commission kicked off a four-day vetting of Senior Superintendents, Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents for officers serving in Western region.
Vihiga County Commander of Police Sarah Wanjiku Duncan, was taken to task over her working relationship with her seniors while serving as OCPD at Railways Police Station in Nairobi.
She was also accused of failing to inform the commandant over a shooting incident when she was serving at in Muthurwa Police Station in Nairobi.
The commission also demanded to know why she was reprimanded in a letter while she was serving as OCPD.
“I had a very poor working relationship with the commandant.” she said.
