Leaders from Nyanza region have appealed to the Jubilee government to invest in areas that would ensure food security, employment for the youth and help grow the economy.
Speaking to The Standard yesterday, Nyatike MP Edick Anyanga advised the Government to observe basic pillars that according to him would change the lives of Kenyans.
"The Jubilee government should look at the stalled irrigation projects as the answer to the food insecurity that hits our nation every year. With this we shall have sufficient food for all the citizens. Secondly, we have mineral deposits at different points of this country, and harnessing this to offer us constant foreign exchange will boost our economy a great deal," he said.
He challenged the Government to stop speaking of challenges, and instead come up with solutions to the country's problems.
"There is no country without challenges. However, it should not be a daily song for it does not help in any way. As the challenges come, we also discover opportunities. For instance, currently we have oil deposits we can utilise to the optimum to boost living standards," he added.
And a spiritual leaders has called on the State to improve security in 2015. While addressing the Press in his office Kenya Pentecostal Evangelism Fellowship of Africa (PEFA) Secretary General John Okinda said the best new year gift would be security.
"The level of insecurity we witnessed in 2014 demoralised us," said Dr Okinda.
