Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho has accused Deputy President Ruto of leading Jubilee's campaign to divide the Opposition in Coast.
He accused Ruto of fostering the rebellion in CORD and censured Opposition legislators who attended Ruto's rally in Kilifi north on Saturday.
Mr Joho claimed that no matter how many times Jubilee leaders make forays into Coast, residents will never forget that they had been marginalised for more than 50 years.
The governor, who was speaking during a fundraiser in aid of Madrassatul Falah Likoni, an Islamic school on Saturday, took issue with the CORD rebel leaders betraying the alliance in the region.
Area MPs affiliated to CORD who met Ruto during his tour of the region include Kilifi North MP Gedion Mung'aro, Kilifi Woman Representative Aisha Jumwa and her Kwale counterpart Zainab Chidzuga. "All of a sudden they feel they have love for the people of the Coast," he said.
