Kenya: Churches now want the Government and the Opposition to holds talks to solve the runaway insecurity in the country.
Speaking at a press conference in Nairobi yesterday, Evangelical Alliance of Kenya Chairman Mark Kariuki warned leaders against politicising the security issue.
"Politics should not have a place in security matters. Let the Opposition and the Government work together and deliver Kenyans from the hands of these terrorists," said Mr Kariuki.
He also urged the Government to step up security across the country to prevent further attacks. "This is not the time to point fingers. It is our collective responsibility to fight insecurity in our country," he said.
He also differed with workers' unions telling their members to leave the terror-hit northern region, saying this would be counterproductive.
"Telling our members to vacate the regions affected by terror is the same as telling people that they should only work in their home areas. This is not healthy for the development of our country. We should have a country where anybody can work anywhere," he said.
