Narok Court fines woman for abusing another

A 32-year-old woman was fined Sh30,000 by a Narok court after being convicted for abusing another woman.

Naisiae Mayone, who will serve six months in jail if she fails to raise the fine had been accused of abusing one Ruth Nampaso, claiming that she was a devil worshipper and a prostitute.

Ms Mayone's lawyer Ken Kilel told Senior Resident Magistrate Temba Sitati that her client was the sole breadwinner of her family of four, and was taking care of her aging mother.

"Apart from that, my client is a first offender. She is also remorseful of her deeds. I ask the court to be lenient in the ruling," he told the court shortly before the she was convicted.
