Man arrested with pistol at military checkpoint

A man in possession of an illegal gun was yesterday arrested by the military at a security checkpoint.

The man who claims to be a youth leader in Dadaab district was in an international aid agency vehicle. 

County Director of Criminal Investigations Musa Yego said the weapon was hidden in a bag, belonging to the suspect. He said police are looking for the driver of the Care International vehicle the man was traveling in.

"The vehicle left Dadaab Refugee Camp and was heading to Nairobi carrying some of the aid workers. We want to know how the driver allowed the suspect in the vehicle yet he (suspect) was not in the original list of the traveling passengers", said Mr Yego. The man was arrested at Modica security check point manned by KDF.
