New pay proposed for non-teaching staff

The non-teaching staff in secondary schools could soon be paid a salary of up to Sh41,000 if the proposals by an education task force are adopted.

The 'Report of the Task force on Secondary School Fees 2014' says there is need to rationalise the number of non-teaching staff based on students' enrollment and the number of streams per school. "Essential support staff should be employed on permanent and pensionable terms and follow set norms in engaging other categories," reads the report.
