Dualle in dispute with Garissa County Governor over proposed Giraffe sanctuary

Recently  Garissa county governor launched a proposal to develop and fence a piece of land in Boul- Argi in Garissa county, a move that was appreciated by the host community and all the leaders in Garissa County given the enormous benefit that the project will bring to the county. Dualle said in a public Baraza held in Garissa township that the project was a plan to grab community land by some selfish leaders in the county, he also continued by criticizing the county leaders who supported the project.

In a continued brawl with the Governor, Dualle said that he will stand his position and protect the community from selfish people who have bad motive of grabbing land and misplacing the community in a disguised development project.

In a post on his Facebook account, Dualle said and I quote “Reponses to the county Governments earlier statement on Boul-argi. Boul-argi giraffe Sanctuary land belongs to the public and the county government has no mandate to change its ownership. I reiterate again the county does not have any right to occupy any piece of public land in my constituency. National Land Commission has the responsibility to allocate or revert the use of public land”.

According to Garissa County Governor Nathif Jama, the county government had spear headed the project long ago and it was in his plans to fence the sanctuary and develop it by building Tourist hotels and resort so as to attract tourist and hence generate revenue for the County Government. The Governor also criticized the majority leader for politicizing development projects in the county saying that such quarrels will not benefit the people of Garissa County and that the majority leader should desist from politicizing development projects that the County Government has initiated.
