Nairobi; Kenya: It is once again that time when Africans unite and get glued to their TVs to follow the antics of the housemates of the highly anticipated Big Brother Africa reality show.
With only a few days before the show kicks off, fans are already excited and are eager to see who among the contestants will have their names gracing magazines, who will be trending on all social media platforms and above all, who will take home the handsome prize of $300,000 (Sh26.7 million).
This year’s BBA is the ninth and just like the other seasons, the housemates will comprise hotshots from 14 countries — Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Two participants have been selected from each country and fans are waiting to spot which of the contestants they will identify with and support to the end.
Participants chosen to represent Kenya are Sabina Anyango, a TV and media personality from Mombasa, and Melvin Alusa, an actor, radio drama director and emcee from Nairobi. Only one Kenyan has managed to reach the finals of the African showpiece and that was rapper Prezzo.
Some of the other contestants to have represented Kenya include the Tujuane host Malonza, radio presenter Sheila Kwamboka and Millicent Mugadi, who recently entered the world of politics.
Big Brother Africa Hotshots was initially scheduled to begin in early September. However, because of a devastating fire at the Big Brother house, it was delayed and will now start on October 5 and run for 63 days, and not 91 as earlier planned.
