GARISSA COUNTY: Sharp differences have emerged between Garissa Governor Nathif Jama and National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale over land in Garissa township.
The county government is proposing to reserve the land for giraffes while Mr Duale, who is also the Garissa Township MP, says the move is a ploy to grab land and displace people from their ancestral settlement without compensation.
Last week, the county administration said it would spend Sh200 million to fence off the land in Bulla-Arig village and upgrade it to a national game park. But Duale said the county government was overstepping its mandate.
