A woman who allegedly stabbed her husband to death using a kitchen knife because he allegedly refused to buy her shoes worth Sh1,000 has been charged with murder in a Kerugoya court.
Appearing before resident judge Cecilia Githua, 23-year-old Sabina Njeri, who has a two-month-old infant, denied murdering her husband James Kabui Kinuthia.
She was accused of committing the offence on June 29 at the Makutano trading centre in Mwea West Sub-county. The prosecution told the court that all procedures, including medical examinations, had been fulfilled before the accused was arraigned.
Justice Githua ordered Njeri remanded in Embu GK Prison until the hearing on October 30.
In the same court, an alleged Kirinyaga County government employee was charged with defrauding Arthur Kamau of Sh929,500.
Caroline Kuthii, however, denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Juliet Kassam and was released on a Sh5 million bond.
Her case will be mentioned on August 27.
